Swallow House Fire in Dong Thap Causes Traffic Congestion on National Highway 30

On the afternoon of September 5, a fire broke out in a swallow house located near National Highway 30 in Hong Ngu city, Dong Thap province, Vietnam, causing temporary traffic paralysis in the surrounding area. According to initial information, around 3:45 PM on the same day, the swallow house, constructed with a corrugated iron roof, suddenly burst into flames. At the time of the fire, the building was locked and no one was inside. Residents immediately reported the incident to the authorities. Upon receiving the report, the Firefighting and Rescue Police of Dong Thap province dispatched one command vehicle, one specialized fire truck, and numerous officers and soldiers. They collaborated with local police and security forces to extinguish the fire. Additionally, boats from a nearby canal were mobilized to assist in the firefighting efforts. Due to the locked state of the building and its construction of corrugated iron and steel, authorities had to break down the door to access the interior. Approximately 30 minutes later, the fire was largely contained. The fire caused traffic congestion on National Highway 30 in the affected section. By 4:40 PM, traffic flow had returned to normal. This incident highlights the vulnerability of infrastructure in the growing sector of small businesses and home-based industries in Vietnam. Structures with simple designs are particularly susceptible to fire risks, underscoring the importance of early firefighting and evacuation preparedness. Accidents along national highways also directly impact logistics and public transportation, necessitating swift responses.
