Major Fire Engulfs Second Floor of Residence in Phnom Penh, No Injuries Reported

A major fire broke out on the afternoon of September 15th, around 3:35 PM, at a residence located on Street 286 in Toul Svay Prey 2 commune, Khan Boeung Keng Kang, Phnom Penh. The fire originated on the second floor of the house, with flames and thick black smoke billowing into the sky. Following reports from residents, authorities and local police responded promptly, dispatching fire trucks to the scene. According to eyewitnesses, the fire appeared to have started in a second-floor bedroom and spread rapidly. Black smoke was seen emanating intensely from the location, making firefighting efforts challenging. A police source indicated that the site had recently completed interior decoration work, and the presence of uncleaned plywood and other materials may have contributed to the smoke and hindered extinguishing efforts. The fire resulted in the near-total destruction of the second floor of the house and its contents. Fortunately, no casualties were reported among the residents. To combat the blaze, numerous fire trucks were deployed, including vehicles from the Phnom Penh Municipal Police's Fire and Rescue Department, as well as assistance from Borey Peng Huot, Olympia, Koh Pich City, and Cambodians Beer companies.
