Cambodia Faces Intensified Job Competition Amidst Development, Experts Urge Youth to Acquire Advanced Skills
Cambodia's government spokesperson highlighted the intensifying job market competition due to national development, urging youth to acquire advanced knowledge and skills. This was stated during a lecture emphasizing the importance of human capital development for achieving Cambodia's 2050 vision.
Mr. Pen Bona, Delegate Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Chairman of the Government Spokesperson Unit, urged students studying at universities to strive to become capable and highly competent individuals, preparing them for the job market upon graduation. The government spokesperson emphasized that as the country develops, work becomes busier and competition intensifies. Therefore, the job market awaits individuals with genuine expertise, strong capabilities, and abundant energy to serve. These remarks were made during a lecture on "Youth Participation Towards Achieving Cambodia's 2050 Vision," held at the Panglong University of Cambodia on the afternoon of Thursday, July 9, 2026. The lecture was presided over and attended by Dr. Sam Sam-Ang, President of Panglong University of Cambodia, along with management, professors, teachers, and over 200 monks and students. Addressing the monks and students, Mr. Pen Bona presented the "Pentagonal Strategy" of the 7th mandate government led by Prime Minister Hun Manet, with a primary focus on the first angle: "Human Capital Development." He stated that to become true human capital serving the nation in the future, according to government policy, youth must possess at least one clear professional skill, both hard and soft skills, good morals, robust health, and high patriotism. He affirmed that the government has created favorable opportunities in all aspects for youth education. Therefore, youth themselves must seize these opportunities through self-effort to shape their future and become genuine human capital. It is noteworthy that this lecture was held with four main objectives: 1. To enable youth to understand the national policies and the Pentagonal Strategy of the Cambodian government of the 7th mandate. 2. To encourage students to develop themselves into complete human capital to respond to the Pentagonal Strategy. 3. To understand the importance of information as a source for research and decision-making. 4. To promote youth participation in national social development to achieve Cambodia's 2050 vision of becoming a high-income country.
