Man Arrested in Kampot Chhnang for Shooting Woman Over Land Dispute

Kampot Chhnang provincial police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting incident that left a woman with severe facial injuries. The incident, which occurred on the evening of September 3, 2026, in Kampong Tralach district, is reportedly rooted in a long-standing land dispute. Pol Vuthy, Deputy Commissioner for Criminal Affairs at the Kampot Chhnang Provincial Police, confirmed on September 7, 2026, that specialized police forces, under the direct command of Major General Teng Channath, the Provincial Police Commissioner, conducted an operation leading to the suspect's arrest. According to the suspect's confession, the motive behind the shooting was a long-standing personal grudge stemming from a land boundary dispute between the two parties. The suspect is currently being questioned at the provincial police headquarters as authorities build a case for legal proceedings. Recalling the incident, the victim, identified as Leang Pisei, a 36-year-old resident of Samrong village, Tajess commune, Kampong Tralach district, was shot by an unknown assailant with a projectile, described as a 'krouth' (a type of projectile, possibly a pellet or similar), under the eye and on the nose.
