Ca Mau Proposes 7 Million Ton/Year Petrochemical Complex

Ca Mau province in southern Vietnam has proposed the inclusion of a petrochemical complex project with an annual capacity of 7 million tons into the national energy master plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision towards 2050. This proposal was announced on the afternoon of September 15 by Lu Quang Ngoi, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. The province anticipates that this large-scale petrochemical complex will serve as a catalyst to maximize the region's untapped potential and strengths, driving economic development. Ca Mau province also possesses significant wind energy potential and is actively seeking to expand offshore wind power projects and attract investments in clean energy. The proposed petrochemical complex is expected to contribute not only to strengthening Vietnam's energy security but also to enhancing domestic production capacity for high-value products. Vietnam has achieved remarkable economic growth in recent years, with manufacturing being a key driver.
