Prabowo Subianto Expresses Gratitude to PAN for Support During Political Struggles

President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia has expressed his special appreciation to the National Awakening Party (PAN) for staying by his side during his political journey when it had not yet yielded victory. He stated that friends who are present during difficult times are much harder to find than those who are there when one is in power. Prabowo conveyed this sentiment in front of PAN Chairman Zulkifli Hasan and PAN cadres at the party's 28th anniversary celebration held at the JICC Senayan in Jakarta on Friday, September 18, 2026. "There are various types of friends. There are friends in happy times, friends when we are in power, friends in beautiful times. There is another type of friend, a friend in times when we are in trouble," said Prabowo. "Thank you friends from PAN," he continued. Prabowo explained that his political relationship with PAN was born from shared values of struggle. He assessed that loyalty was one of the values that is difficult to maintain when circumstances change. In his remarks, Prabowo admitted that he was touched when recalling the support he received during his political defeats. "Earlier when it was dark, I felt my eyes were a little watery. Why?
