The Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced the arrest of Robert Carlos Ramirez, 50, a US national wanted in the United States for child sexual abuse, in Angeles City, Pampanga. The BI-Fugitive Search Unit stated that Ramirez was apprehended on September 10 at Camp Tomas Pepito. The arrest was executed based on a request received by the BI from the US embassy. Ramirez has a pending arrest warrant issued by a court in Los Angeles, California, for charges of sexual abuse. He is currently detained at the Angeles City Jail in Barangay Sto. Domingo. According to information from the embassy, Ramirez's US passport has been revoked. He arrived in the Philippines in July 2023 as a tourist and subsequently overstayed his visa. This arrest is seen as part of the BI's ongoing efforts to prevent the Philippines from becoming a haven for international fugitives. It also highlights the importance of international cooperation in tracking down and extraditing fugitives to their home countries. Source: Philstar Nation
