Youth gathering and Environ. Conserve. activity held

A youth gathering and environmental conservation activity jointly organized by the Central Committee for Youth Affairs of Myanmar, the Bago Region Youth Affairs Committee, the Domestic Youth Friendship Association and Taungoo University was held at Taungoo University in the morning on September 7. Speaking at the event, Union Minister for Youth Affairs Dr. Maung Thin, who is also Vice-Chairman (1) of the Central Committee for Youth Affairs of Myanmar, said that young people are not merely those who wait for the future but are the ones who create and shape it. He expressed his belief that the knowledge, skills, creativity, environmental awareness and sense of responsibility of the new generation of young people would contribute to building a healthy society, promoting economic development and creating a greener world for Myanmar’s future society. The Union Minister also urged the young men and women to share with one another the knowledge and experience they gained from the event. Next, a video clip commemorating International Youth Day 2026 and documenting activities undertaken for the comprehensive development of young people was shown. Young participants from various sectors then raised questions and held discussions on matters they wished to know more about, and the Union Minister responded and provided guidance. Dr. Gu Grong Hwa of the Domestic Youth Friendship Association gave an educational talk entitled “The Amazing Ayeyawady.” Deputy Minister for Youth Affairs U Sit Naing donated sports equipment to Taungoo University, which was received by the Acting Rector of the university. The Union Minister then presented certificates of honour to the dance groups that performed at the ceremony, while Bago Region Minister for Social Affairs Dr. Htoo Char Aung presented cash awards to the female students of Taungoo University. More than 600 people attended the youth gathering. A collective cleaning campaign was also conducted within the Taungoo University campus, and the Union Minister and accompanying officials toured the area and encouraged the participants.
