Cambodian Authorities Launch Urgent Operation to Find Missing Singaporean Woman

Mr. Touch Sokhac, Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Interior, announced that Cambodian specialized forces are conducting a highly attentive search operation, directly under the orders of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Dr. Sar Sokha, to locate a missing 20-year-old Singaporean woman, Aishah Siregar, who is suspected of being lured to Cambodia. Dr. Touch Sokhac stated that the spokesperson's office received initial information on the evening of July 30 and obtained further details on the morning of July 31, 2026, through the facilitation of journalists who connected with the victim's guardians. He confirmed that immediately after receiving this information, Deputy Prime Minister Sar Sokha ordered the deployment of joint forces, including the Phnom Penh Municipal Police, the General Department of Immigration (a specialized unit managing foreign presence), and the National Police General Commissariat, to implement timely and expert intervention measures. The Deputy Spokesperson emphasized, "The authorities have facilitated the guardians to provide detailed information to the Phnom Penh Municipal Police, providing the authorities with more grounds for assessment and analysis to proceed with expert investigative measures to clearly resolve this case and intervene if a genuine disappearance within Cambodia is confirmed." It is worth noting that this urgent search operation by Cambodian authorities follows a report by Channel News Asia (CNA), which stated that Ms. Aishah Siregar had lost contact with her family since the morning of July 28, 2026, with her Telegram and WhatsApp accounts being deleted. Subsequently, her family discovered an airline ticket in her email confirming her travel to Cambodia. Furthermore, a history of transferring hundreds of dollars to an individual with whom she had been playing online games for over a year raised suspicions of her being lured or scammed. Currently, Cambodian authorities are making every effort, as a highly responsible state, to diligently investigate and locate the victim and ensure her timely safety, while Singaporean authorities are also working closely with Interpol on this case.
