BRI Wins Indonesia Sports Industry of the Year 2026 Award

JAKARTA - PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI won the Indonesia Sports Industry of the Year 2026 award in the series of Indonesia Sports Summit 2026 which was held by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia on Friday (11/9/2026). The award was handed over by the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia Erick Thohir and received directly by the President Director of BRI Hery Gunardi. Carrying the theme "Celebrating Those Who Move Indonesian Sport Forward", the 2026 Indonesia Sports Awards this year is a form of appreciation for the dedication, contribution, achievements, and achievements of parties who have a positive impact on the progress of Indonesian sports. BRI President Director Hery Gunardi expressed his appreciation for the awards and trust given to BRI. According to him, this involvement is part of the Company's long-term commitment to building a stronger and sustainable sports ecosystem, as well as the creation of economic and social benefits for the community. "We interpret this award from the Ministry of Youth and Sports as an appreciation for BRI's consistency in supporting the progress of national sports. BRI has also been involved as the main sponsor of the highest level of Indonesian football competition through the BRI Super League," said Hery. This consistency continues through BRI's involvement as the main sponsor of the 2026/2027 BRI Super League. This season marks the sixth consecutive year of BRI's support for the national top-flight football competition since 2021. According to Hery, support for football competitions not only provides benefits in terms of organization and achievement, but also builds an ecosystem that involves the community at large. The large number of spectators, both those who are present directly at the stadium and those who watch through television and live streaming services, also encourage economic activity in various sectors. "Within this ecosystem, there are UMKM actors who are engaged in the culinary, trading, and merchandise sales sectors. This is in line with BRI's business focus, which has consistently empowered and expanded access to financing for MSMEs. So, BRI's support for football does not stop at the competition, but also encourages the growth of the people's economy," he continued. The economic impact of the competition is also reflected in the study of the BRI which shows that the national top-tier football competition has the potential to create economic turnover of IDR 10.42 trillion in 2024, and continues to increase year by year. The impact reaches various elements in the football ecosystem, ranging from clubs and supporters to business actors and MSMEs. Apart from football, BRI has also consistently supported the MotoGP as one of the international sports events held in Indonesia. The existence of this event is able to attract audiences from various regions while increasing transaction activity in the hospitality, culinary, transportation, and various other supporting businesses.
