PM Hun Manet Meets Huawei Executive to Discuss Digital Infrastructure Cooperation

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received Mr. WANG Xu, President of Huawei for Southeast Asia, at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on the afternoon of September 23, 2026. The meeting was held for Mr. Wang to pay a courtesy call and discuss future cooperation. Huawei, a giant Chinese technology company established in 1987, plays a crucial role in developing and promoting the use of digital technologies worldwide. The company operates in various sectors, including Information and Communication Technology (ICT), telecommunications networks, smartphones, smart devices, computers, and cloud data. Furthermore, Huawei is actively involved in the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), and its operating system, HarmonyOS. This meeting underscores the importance of collaboration with international technology firms like Huawei for strengthening digital infrastructure and driving technological innovation as Cambodia pursues rapid economic development. The Cambodian government has identified the transition to a digital economy as a key national strategy, focusing on improving telecommunications networks and expanding digital services.
