SARABURI — Police in Saraburi have arrested a 42-year-old man accused of attacking two officers with an iron bar, an incident that went viral on social media. The incident occurred on the night of July 6th outside Jikko Saraburi, a rice porridge restaurant on Phichai Road, in the Pak Phriao subdistrict of Mueang Saraburi district. A video clip posted on social media showed a police patrol vehicle arriving, and a shirtless man running across the road before approaching two patrol officers. Despite an attempt by a bystander to intervene, the man allegedly struck one officer with the iron bar, causing him to fall, and then chased another officer. The suspect fled into the darkness before additional officers arrived. Mueang Saraburi Police issued a public alert asking residents to report sightings of the suspect, identified as Mr. Bee Sae Ho, 42. He was described as approximately 160 centimeters tall, of medium build, and often seen walking shirtless in shorts. On the evening of July 7th, following tips from the public and review of CCTV footage, the man was located walking in Nong Saeng district and apprehended around 11:00 PM. Police stated the suspect gave inconsistent answers during questioning, and a urine test for narcotics was negative. The man has been charged with assaulting officials while performing their duties, resisting or obstructing officials by force while armed or using a weapon, and damaging property. Pol. Col. Sakchai Kraweeradechachai, superintendent of Mueang Saraburi Police Station, confirmed that two officers were injured. Pol. Lt. Boonchaliao suffered a split lip requiring five stitches after being hit with the iron bar, while Pol. Sgt. Major Poramet sustained facial injuries. Both were treated and allowed to recover at home. Sakchai noted that the suspect had previously been detained several times for causing disturbances in Mueang Saraburi but had not previously displayed such a high level of aggression towards officers or the public. It remains unclear if the suspect has a mental health condition, and specialists will need to assess him. The suspect is currently in police custody pending legal proceedings.
