Cambodia Inspects Maintenance of 15 Rural Roads in Kampong Chhnang Province

The Ministry of Rural Development of Cambodia has conducted a first-stage inspection and evaluation of the regular maintenance of 15 rural roads, totaling approximately 112,860 meters in length, in Kampong Chhnang Province. The inspection was led by Mr. Chim Saoky, Permanent Secretary of State of the Ministry of Rural Development, with an inter-ministerial committee including representatives from the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Among the inspected roads, 13 are asphalt-paved (DBST) with a total length of 91,760 meters, varying in width from 5 to 7 meters. These are located in various communes across Kampong Chhnang Province, including Sethey, Tbaeng Khpos, Pongro, Puani, Chrey Bak, Kampong Tralach, Chres, Ta Jes, Thlok Vien, Khna Chamar, and Thma Eit, within Kampong Tralach, Samaki Mean Chey, and Roleaphear districts. The remaining two roads are gravel-surfaced, totaling 21,100 meters in length and 6 meters in width, located in Krang Lvea village, Samaki Mean Chey district. These road maintenance projects were implemented by the Kampong Chhnang Provincial Department of Rural Development. During the inspection, Mr. Chim Saoky met with residents along these roads. The residents expressed their joy and gratitude for the additional achievements provided by the Cambodian government through the Ministry of Rural Development. Mr. Saoky stated that the ongoing maintenance of these roads, carried out by the Provincial Department of Rural Development, ensures the good quality of the roads for long-term use. This significantly contributes to improving the living standards of rural residents by providing good roads and a clean environment for a better life. He further added that road construction in rural areas is part of promoting economic and social interactions in the countryside, aiming to improve the living conditions of rural communities. Concurrently, Mr. Saoky urged the residents living on both sides of the roads to actively participate in maintaining them well, specifically by clearing drainage ditches to prevent water accumulation and ensure the durability of the roads for extended use.
