In Takeo Province, southern Cambodia, Governor Vai Samnang has sternly instructed the specialized authorities responsible for consumer protection, competition, and combating fraud to significantly increase their inspection activities of food products sold in markets and schools. This directive aims to ensure food safety and protect the public health of the residents. The governor's instructions were given during a provincial council meeting held on the morning of July 8, 2026. Vai Samnang emphasized that the specialized officials, along with local authorities, must consistently and more frequently inspect food safety, particularly for products sold in schools and various markets. Furthermore, the provincial governor stated that all authorities and specialized officers must collaborate closely to prevent and block the distribution of goods or food products that are of poor quality, past their expiration dates, or contain prohibited chemical substances, thereby impacting the health of students and the general public.
