Batangas City School Resumes Classes After Shooting Threat Scare

MANILA, Philippines — Classes at Batangas City Integrated High School (BCIHS) will resume on Tuesday, June 30, after school administrators and local authorities declared the campus safe following an assessment prompted by an alleged shooting threat that forced the suspension of classes a day earlier. In an official statement released Monday, the BCIHS administration said it had undertaken the necessary safety and security protocols in coordination with the Batangas City local government and concerned authorities to protect students, teaching and non-teaching personnel, parents, and other stakeholders. The school said that after “a thorough assessment and the implementation of appropriate precautionary measures,” both the administration and the local government unit (LGU) assured the public that the campus is safe. “Everyone is encouraged to remain calm and not be alarmed. The situation is being closely monitored, and additional security measures will continue to be implemented as needed,” the statement read. School officials said regular classes would resume on Tuesday, June 30, with students and personnel advised to follow the usual class schedule unless otherwise announced through official school communication channels. The administration also urged the public to rely only on official announcements from the school, the LGU, and authorized government agencies, warning against spreading unverified information that could cause unnecessary fear, confusion, or panic. It likewise reminded the public that creating, posting, sending, or sharing threatening messages is “a serious offense,” adding that those responsible may face disciplinary action under school policies and sanctions under existing laws. “The safety and well-being of the entire school community remain the highest priority of the school administration and the Local Government Unit,” the statement added. The announcement came a day after BCIHS suspended all classes and on-site school activities early Monday following reported shooting threats against the campus. “In view of the reported shooting threats involving Batangas City Integrated High School, all classes and on-site school activities are suspended beginning tomorrow, June 29, 2026, until further notice,” the school said in an urgent advisory posted on its official Facebook page shortly before midnight on Sunday. The advisory did not disclose details about the alleged threat involving the school in Barangay 20. At the time, school officials said the suspension was imposed to ensure the safety and security of students, teachers, non-teaching personnel, parents, and the entire school community. They also advised everyone not to enter the school premises while the suspension remained in effect and said they were coordinating closely with law enforcement authorities to address the situation.
