Vietnam and Laos Strengthen Judicial Cooperation, Deepening Bilateral Ties

On July 28, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President To Lam received Comrade Phayvy Syboualypha, Member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, who is on an official visit to Vietnam. During the meeting, the importance of cooperation in the judicial sector between the two countries was emphasized. Both sides agreed to enhance judicial cooperation as a framework for further developing their traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership. This underscores the establishment of a state governed by law under Vietnam's one-party system and its close ties with Laos. Vietnam and Laos share geographical proximity and deep historical and cultural connections. Bilateral relations have been developing across various fields, including politics, economy, and security, with both nations being crucial partners in maintaining economic growth and regional stability. The strengthening of judicial cooperation is expected to contribute to the protection of citizens' rights and the establishment of the rule of law through harmonizing legal systems, enhancing cooperation in criminal investigations, and expanding judicial assistance between the two countries. This aligns with Vietnam's ongoing efforts to build a "state governed by law." Additionally, news of strengthening economic ties with Cambodia was also reported on the same day.
