85th Anniversary of Soviet Information Bureau Commemorated at Russian Embassy

The 85th Anniversary of the Soviet Information Bureau, or Sovinformburo, was commemorated at the Russian Embassy in Yangon on Thursday, highlighting its historical role in wartime reporting and the evolution of Russia’s international media. Hla Yamin Aye reports.,A commemorative gathering marking the 85th Anniversary of the Soviet Information Bureau, also known as Sovinformburo was held at the Russian Embassy in Yangon on Thursday. Established on June 24,1941, the historic institution laid the foundation for Russia’s modern international news network, RIA Novosti, with its traditions continuing today through the Russia Today Media Group.,Diplomats, journalists, media representatives and invited guests attended the event which involved a curated archival exhibition, showcasing the iconic photographs which document the eighty-five years of global history.,Minister-Counsellor, Natalia Nefedova, Embassy of the Russian Federation said "The exhibition dedicated to the 85th Anniversary of Soviet Information Bureau which was created in the first days of the great patriotic war. It became the voice of the government, the voice of the people and it portrayed each day of the war and each year of the war. It accompanied every step of the history of our country and our achievement.",The Minister-Counsellor also stressed the importance of media cooperation in strengthening bilateral ties between Myanmar and Russia.,Minister-Counsellor, Natalia Nefedova, Embassy of the Russian Federation said "Media cooperation and cooperation between journalists are important parts of bilateral relations because they give proper coverage of the development of the people in both countries. The exchange of experience is very useful, mutual visits, exchange of information and educational programs are very topical to both countries. Online scam is a very big problem both in Myanmar and Russia because perpetrators are widely using AI technologies, I think it’s very important for our on-air agencies to develop their AI capacity.",A commemorative video clip featuring the historical records of the Sovinformburo was also screened to pay tribute to the profound contributions of frontline correspondents through the lens of cameras.,The anniversary commemorates the legacy of Sovinformburo during World War II and its role in the evolution of Russian state media, while also providing an opportunity for diplomats, journalists and media representatives to reflect on the changing landscape of international news and media cooperation. Participants also expressed hope for deeper collaboration between Myanmar media outlets and the Russia Today Media Group.
