Cambodia Holds Training on Minimum Standards for Alternative Child Care in Battambang Province

The Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation held a training course on the minimum standards for alternative care for children on July 22, 2026, at the meeting hall of the Department of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation in Battambang Province. Mr. Toch Channy, Secretary of State of the Ministry, stated that the training course is organized with the objective of providing knowledge about the newly revised minimum standards for alternative care for children to officials of the provincial departments of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation and relevant sub-national authorities. This will serve as a basis for guiding organizations and associations on managing and providing alternative care services for children, and to strengthen the capacity of focal officials from the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation and sub-national administrations to inspect, monitor, and evaluate the quality of alternative care services, as stipulated in the minimum standards for alternative care for children, to ensure the effectiveness of the implementation of the policy on alternative care for children in 2024. The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Oum Sophannara, Director General of Social Services, the Deputy Governor of Battambang Province, the Chairperson of the Provincial Council and the Provincial Committee for Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, the Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, representatives from the Inter-sectoral Coordination Office of the provincial administration, focal officials responsible for child affairs from the social affairs departments of all 25 provinces, and representatives of development partner organizations, with a total of 84 participants.
