Cambodia Concludes 5th Command and Staff Engineering Course, Launches Five New Engineering Training Programs

General Vong Pisen, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, presided over the closing ceremony of the 5th Command and Staff Engineering Course and the opening of five new engineering training programs for 2026-2027 at the Morodok Techo-Thipadei Institute of Engineering on September 9, 2026. During the event, General Vong Pisen praised the efforts and cooperation of the leadership of the Engineering Corps and relevant institutions, which ensured the training proceeded according to plan and contributed to national defense. He also commended the engineering corps for their solidarity, internal unity, capabilities, and adherence to orders in participating in border demarcation and constructing border ring roads, thereby contributing to making border areas zones of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development. He emphasized the strategic importance of infrastructure along the border corridors in political, economic, security, and military aspects, noting that this would facilitate greater settlement of citizens in border regions and contribute to strengthening the people's defense capabilities. Furthermore, General Vong Pisen underscored the continuation of reforms in the defense sector, particularly in training, which is the core of building a strong military. He highlighted three priority tasks: 1) modernization of structures, 2) modernization of equipment, and 3) modernization of training, to respond to the evolution of modern warfare tactics and technologies. He recommended enhancing the quality of training, developing training schools and fields, strengthening the capacity of instructors, updating training programs and documents, and reinforcing cooperation with friendly countries to further modernize and enhance the effectiveness of human resources within the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces. Finally, he urged the graduates to apply their knowledge and experience in their respective units, to continue their studies and professional development. For those entering the new courses, he encouraged them to strive, overcome difficulties, and absorb knowledge and experience from their instructors to achieve success in their training.
