Cambodian Ministry of Economy and Finance Donates Aid to Border Guard Units

On September 11, 2026, a delegation led by H.E. Meas Soksensan, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, visited border guard units in Preah Vihear province. Representing H.E. Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, the delegation offered condolences and presented aid to the soldiers of the 395th Intervention Battalion and the 105th Ground Border Police Battalion stationed in the Tri-Border area of Choam Ksan district. H.E. Soksensan conveyed deep gratitude and remembrance from the leadership to the forces defending the border, acknowledging their sacrifices for the nation's territorial integrity, sovereignty, peace, and stability. He also extended profound sympathy to the families of fallen soldiers. This initiative aligns with the "spirit of sharing" under the wise guidance of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, former Prime Minister and current President of the Senate. The Ministry of Economy and Finance has maintained a strong bond with these units since 2008, with this visit marking the 37th occasion of providing support, typically before major national holidays like Khmer New Year and Pchum Ben. H.E. Soksensan also highlighted the government's vision for Cambodia 2050 and the ongoing implementation of the first phase of the "Pentagonal Strategy" under Prime Minister Hun Manet. This strategy prioritizes "Human, Water, Road, Electricity, Technology" to drive economic growth, create jobs, ensure equity, enhance efficiency, and maintain sustainable development, thereby improving the livelihoods of all citizens, including civil servants and armed forces. The aid package included cash (50,000 Riel per individual), 2 million Riel for each unit, essential supplies, and medicines, totaling approximately 525 million Riel (around $130,000 USD). Additionally, five provincial departments of economy and finance contributed 5 million Riel each to the units. The donation aims to boost the morale of the border defense forces, improve their living conditions, and further strengthen the camaraderie between civilian institutions and the military.
