Thai Police Assert Authority to Inspect 'Chabad', Urge Respect for Law at Sonthi's Rally

The Thai police have asserted their authority to investigate the Jewish center 'Chabad' in Bangkok's Sukhumvit area for any illegal activities, even though it is considered private property. Pol. Maj. Gen. Siriwat Deephor, deputy spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, stated that measures are in place to scrutinize the activities within Chabad in cooperation with relevant agencies to ensure national security. He affirmed that if any illegal acts are found, strict legal action will be taken. Furthermore, Pol. Maj. Gen. Siriwat addressed rallies led by Mr. Sonthi Limthongkul, emphasizing that participants must adhere to the Public Assembly Act. The police are preparing measures to ensure safety in areas where rallies occur and will take legal action against any violations. He also revealed that operations to crack down on 'nominees' who hold property or engage in illicit activities under the guise of foreigners are ongoing under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police.
