ADB Commends Progress in Cambodian Water Resources Projects

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology of Cambodia hosted a wrap-up meeting on September 21 at the ministry's headquarters for the Asian Development Bank's (ADB) project review mission. The mission, which took place from September 7 to 21, assessed the progress of various projects financed by the ADB. The meeting was conducted both in-person and via Zoom, with participation from Mr. Long Piseth representing the ADB, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Women's Affairs, target provincial administrations, leaders and technical officials from the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, as well as representatives from the Tonle Sap Authority and the National Mekong Committee of Cambodia. Mr. Chan Sinat, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, stated that the review mission concluded successfully and smoothly, in line with ADB's plans and requirements. The ADB representative praised the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology for its efforts in achieving significant results and effectively managing various risks in a timely manner. The ADB side agreed with the requests and strategic vision of the ministry's leadership to develop a modern and comprehensive irrigation system. This aims to benefit the citizens, reduce floods, ensure sufficient water supply during the dry season, and enable up to three cropping seasons per year, thereby enhancing the livelihoods and national economy.
