Vietnam Aims for August 15 Deadline for Highway Service Areas and Toll Collection System Rollout

Vietnam's Ministry of Construction, under Minister Tran Hong Minh, has instructed relevant agencies to expedite the completion of service areas and the implementation of toll collection systems on expressways by August 15. This initiative aims to enhance the convenience of transportation infrastructure and establish a more efficient and transparent toll collection system. Currently, Vietnam is advancing infrastructure development, particularly along its north-south expressway network, with some sections already operational for toll collection. However, the delayed completion of service areas in certain sections has posed a challenge to ensuring user convenience. This directive is intended to address these issues and create an environment where users can comfortably utilize the expressways. Specifically, the implementation of ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) is progressing, and toll collection via ETC has already commenced on five north-south expressway sections, with positive outcomes reported. This system is expected to reduce vehicle stopping times, facilitate smoother traffic flow, and contribute to the modernization and transparency of the collection process. The Ministry of Construction has urged investors to mobilize all available resources to accelerate development and ensure the completion of all tasks by the stipulated deadline. This is anticipated to strengthen Vietnam's logistics network and contribute to economic growth.
