AI Summary

Vidolo Global, a student-led organization, is providing free public speaking workshops and communication development to underprivileged students in Thailand. The initiative aims to equip students with essential real-world skills and bridge educational disparities.

Vidolo Global: Imagine walking into your first job interview and knowing exactly what to say. Being able to confidently negotiate a salary without a tremor in your voice, and being able to confidently articulate ideas in a room full of people twice your age. That’s what public speaking can do. Confident & charismatic communication. The ability to navigate the corporate world as you belong. Communication is one of the most valuable skills today. In international schools and well-equipped public institutions, students have access to debate clubs, MUNs, mock trials, and a plethora of opportunities to prepare their communication skills right out of school itself. But for countless students around the world, learning to speak confidently remains a privilege rather than a right. And it impacts the, in every interview, meeting, and conversation. That’s where we come in. We are Vidolo, a combination of the Sanskrit words “Vidy,” meaning knowledge, and “Bolo,” meaning speaking. And our name itself draws parallels to what we do. We empower underprivileged communities through free public speaking workshops and communication development. We are here to bridge this gap, to eliminate this bottleneck, to erase institutional shortcomings. Founded and operated entirely by students, we combine heavily researched curriculum with our world-class tutors, aiming to provide the highest quality of public speaking lessons possible. Vidolo Global isn’t composed of heroes. We’re a group of furious students. Furious at the inequalities faced by students in underprivileged communities. According to Forbes, 70% of working professionals rank it as the most important skill for career advancement, and according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, 80% of employers actively screen for it. This institutional divide means millions of students never get opportunities to learn this, trapping them and their communities. Since our launch in 2024, Vidolo Global has taught more than 500 students across the UAE, Connecticut, California, Wales, Thailand, Hong Kong, Hyderabad, France, Sweden, and more! All while growing to a team of over 120+ members who’ve contributed over 1300 hours of community service. One of our defining characteristics is our emphasis on tailoring every lesson to the demographic we teach. Most public speaking programmes recycle generalised curriculum. Vidolo doesn’t. Every single lesson starts with psychological research into exactly the demographic that we’re teaching, their education, mindset, and any psychological considerations. We prepare an extensive curriculum prospectus, which is then evaluated and finalised with respective organising partners. At Vidolo, another USP about us is that we go further than just helping our students in the classroom. In Thailand, we recognised that students in our Thailand classes struggled with impromptu speaking due to a lack of real-world knowledge. Our response to this was the Vidolo Podcast, over 150+ five-minute bite-sized episodes breaking down politics, history, and economics in simple English. To this day, Vidolo Global releases over 30 episodes monthly, ensuring every student has access to high-quality and accessible news about the world. And finally, our cohort of tutors is worth noting. Vidolo’s tutors include some of the world’s best debaters and public speakers, notably including the US national team captain, multiple international and national WIDPSC / WSDC champions, and even TEDx speakers. By having these esteemed tutors, we ensure that our teaching is of the highest caliber, but simultaneously, being student-taught, we ensure that the tutors remain approachable and comfortable for our students. How effective are our sessions? We measure this through both what our students walk away with and their achievements after. Students are left with a deeper understanding of negotiation mechanics, oratory skills, critical thinking ability, and a deeper sense of confidence. We provide our students with practical, personalised strategies taught directly from our expert tutoring group. Finally, our Vidolo volunteers have gone on to be accepted at world-leading institutions such as UChicago, Yale, NYU, Cornell and more, and have personally attested to Vidolo making an impact on their application. Today Vidolo Global represents a growing example of what student-led educational initiatives can accomplish through passion, innovation, and research-driven teaching. Our organisation is hungry to help more students, teach more classes, and make more of an impact. “To speak is to empower, and to empower is to change a life.”
