"The 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and the Global Artificial Intelligence Governance High-Level Meeting were successfully held in Shanghai, China, from July 17 to 20. The conference was held under the theme 'Let's Create the Future Together with Artificial Intelligence Partners,' and government representatives, heads of organizations, experts, and representatives from the industrial sector from over 100 national and international conferences attended, and jointly discussed important topics such as artificial intelligence technology innovation, industrial development, and global governance. At the conference, it was proposed to focus on the people, use artificial intelligence for good, promote international cooperation, and complete the global artificial intelligence governance system. It was urged to better support economic and social development through artificial intelligence technology, increase the common well-being of humanity, jointly share the fruits of artificial intelligence development from various countries, and create a fairer, more open, and inclusive development environment for the whole world, especially for developing countries," said Daw Hnin Pwint Phyu from China Media Group (CMG). On July 16, 2026, 29 countries signed an agreement on the establishment of the World Artificial Intelligence Technology Cooperation Organization in Shanghai. It is known that this agreement is the first legal mechanism for AI governance that focuses on the development needs of developing countries and Global South countries, and in which sovereign states participate with equal rights. It is known that Myanmar officially signed this agreement and became one of the founding member states of the World Artificial Intelligence Technology Cooperation Organization Agreement. It is known that the experts who attended the discussion deeply discussed three topics: the emergence of the World Artificial Intelligence Technology Cooperation Organization Agreement, the new role of the Global South, sharing and enhancing AI technology, and the new future of sustainable AI development in Myanmar.
