Pham Nhat Vuong's sons appointed CEOs of VinFast, Green SM

Pham Nhat Vuong, founder of Vietnam's largest conglomerate Vingroup, has appointed his elder son, Pham Nhat Quan Anh, as CEO of VinFast, the country's first full-fledged automaker. Quan Anh officially took over the role from his father on Saturday and has also served as VinFast chairman since May. The 33-year-old graduated from Singapore Management University and joined Vingroup in 2015, holding various management positions across the group. He will continue to serve as CEO of VinMetal, a high-quality steel producer, alongside his new roles. Additionally, Vuong's second son, Pham Nhat Minh Hoang, aged 26, has been appointed CEO of Green SM, a company focused on taxi and ride-hailing services. Nguyen Quoc Tuan, the former CEO, will now serve as chairman, taking over from Vuong's wife, Pham Thu Huong. Minh Hoang has held senior positions at several Vingroup-affiliated companies, including VinFast, Green Future, VinSmart Future, and Green SM. The leadership changes at VinFast and Green SM are seen as part of Vingroup's broader strategy to strengthen internal talent development and empower a younger generation of executives amidst rapid expansion. VinFast, founded in 2017, announced a complete shift to electric vehicles in 2021 and aims to deliver 300,000 vehicles globally this year. Green SM, established in 2023, initially focused on taxi services using VinFast vehicles but has since expanded into food and parcel delivery, as well as vehicle and electric motorbike rentals. The company now operates in 34 provinces and cities across Vietnam and has expanded into six overseas markets. Pham Nhat Vuong is the chairman of Vingroup, Vietnam's largest listed company, and is the richest man in Southeast Asia with a net worth of $37.9 billion, according to Forbes. His wife, Huong, is the second-richest person in Vietnam with a fortune of $4.3 billion, and her sister is also a billionaire.
