Hanoi House Fire Claims 5 Lives, Firefighters Respond Swiftly

A fire that broke out in a four-story house in Tay Ho district, Hanoi, early on September 16, has resulted in five deaths and four survivors. Around 1:50 AM, residents discovered flames erupting from house number 2B on alley 2B Van Cao street. They sounded the alarm and attempted to extinguish the fire with available equipment, but were unsuccessful. The Hanoi City Police Information Command Center received the report at 2:06 AM and dispatched one command vehicle, five fire engines, and nearly 40 officers and soldiers to the scene. The No. 8 Firefighting and Rescue Team, located approximately 0.8 km from the scene, was the first to arrive, followed by reinforcements from the No. 10 and No. 14 teams. The house is four stories high, with each floor covering an area of about 60 square meters. When firefighters reached the scene, four individuals had already escaped, while several others remained trapped inside. Rescue teams, equipped with breathing apparatus, entered the floors to search for victims and simultaneously deployed multiple firefighting efforts to prevent the fire from spreading to upper floors and adjacent houses. By 2:30 AM, the fire was largely under control, and it was completely extinguished 15 minutes later. During the search, police discovered the bodies of five deceased individuals, who were then handed over to medical personnel. The Hanoi Police are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
