Party Diplomacy Bolsters Political Foundation for Vietnam's National Development

Vietnam's Communist Party is reasserting the importance of Party diplomacy in building relations with other countries, prioritizing national development as its highest objective. At the 33rd Diplomatic Conference, the goals of Party diplomacy were outlined as providing more proactive policy advice, building higher political trust, deepening relations, making cooperation more practical, and ensuring concrete contributions to national development. At the conference, the Party General Secretary and State President highlighted the significant role of foreign affairs in shaping a new era of national development. Additionally, ministers stressed the necessity of fully safeguarding national interests. Under Vietnam's one-party system, the Communist Party leads foreign policy, strategically utilizing international relations to achieve national political and economic goals. Particularly as the country continues its economic growth, Party diplomacy plays a crucial role in diversifying relationships with Western and ASEAN nations while managing its complex ties with China. This also serves to strengthen the foundation for maintaining domestic political stability and attracting foreign investment. The discussions at this conference reaffirmed that diplomacy is an indispensable tool for Vietnam as it seeks to enhance its influence on the international stage and advance its development strategies.
