The footage was filmed after the Thai military granted access. “Reporting on online scam operations is important, but journalists must also describe the political and geographical context of the locations they cover,” Kea said. “The issue is not the story itself, but the significance of the location.” The ABC report, presented by Asia Editor Karishma Vyas, documented alleged evidence of cyber scam operations, including detention rooms and equipment used by criminal networks.
