Cordillera police apprehend nine most wanted fugitives

The Cordillera police have apprehended nine of the region’s most wanted fugitives during an intensified manhunt conducted from July 9 to 14, as part of their campaign against wanted persons across the area. According to Police Brig. Gen. Ericson Dilag, the Cordillera police director, five of the fugitives were captured within the jurisdiction of the Benguet Police Provincial Office, two by the Mountain Province Police Provincial Office, one by the Baguio City Police Office, and one by the Apayao Police Provincial Office. Among those apprehended were the region’s No. 1 most wanted person facing a murder charge; the No. 2 most wanted for qualified rape and rape through sexual assault; the No. 3 most wanted for qualified rape of a minor and two counts of statutory acts of lasciviousness; the No. 4 most wanted for qualified rape; and the No. 5 most wanted for statutory rape. The arrest tally also includes the No. 6 most wanted for qualified theft; the No. 7 most wanted for violating Republic Act No. 9262 (the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act); the No. 8 most wanted for two counts of statutory acts of lasciviousness; and the No. 9 most wanted for statutory acts of lasciviousness. The Cordillera police, based at Camp Dangwa in Benguet, said the arrests were carried out through coordinated operations involving police units and intelligence personnel. The arrested individuals are under the custody of their respective arresting units for documentation and proper disposition before being turned over to the courts.
