Thai Deputy PM Represents King at Norway Royal Funeral

Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul represented His Majesty the King at the funeral ceremony for Norway's King Harald V in Oslo, according to an announcement on September 10 by Trisulee Trisaranakul, secretary-general to the prime minister. His Majesty the King had appointed Anutin as his representative for the event. The funeral ceremony took place on September 9 at Oslo Cathedral at 17:30 local time. Following the service, Anutin attended an official reception at the Royal Palace in Oslo. The reception was hosted by Norway's new King, Haakon VIII, and was attended by royal guests, heads of state, and senior representatives from around the world who had gathered to pay their respects. Anutin later shared photographs from the royal dinner on Facebook, expressing his gratitude for being appointed as the royal representative by His Majesty the King. He noted that the attendance provided an opportunity to meet with numerous world leaders, including the presidents of Georgia, Latvia, Albania, Germany, Estonia, Hungary, and the Czech Republic, as well as the prime ministers of France, Norway, Sweden, and Morocco. "Although these meetings were brief, we made the most of the limited time to exchange views on bilateral relations, cooperation, trade, investment, and new opportunities that could bring mutual benefits to Thailand and the countries represented by these leaders," Anutin stated. This participation underscores Thailand's engagement in international diplomacy and its efforts to foster stronger global ties.
