Cambodian Red Cross Strengthens Health Education for Residents in Banteay Meanchey Province

The Cambodian Red Cross, Banteay Meanchey Provincial Branch, is continuing to conduct health education activities for residents, focusing on preventing infectious diseases that are prone to spread during the rainy season. The branch is promoting direct outreach to communities on measures for preventing dengue fever, other communicable diseases, hygiene, safe water usage, and self-protection from lightning strikes. Specifically, on September 16, 2026, under the leadership of Chorn Chim, head of the volunteer group in Rorng Cham Village 1, Sla Kram commune, Svay Chek district, four volunteers visited 71 households in the village. They provided residents with knowledge and encouraged them to protect themselves and their families from health issues and dangers that may arise in daily life. During this educational outreach, volunteers disseminated information on dengue fever prevention, including eliminating stagnant water sources where mosquitoes can lay eggs, maintaining clean environments around residences, and being vigilant about symptoms that may indicate illness, ensuring timely examination and treatment for patients. In addition, the volunteer group advised residents on preventing other infectious diseases, maintaining personal and environmental hygiene, using and storing safe water securely, and implementing protective measures during thunderstorms to reduce the risk of fatalities and property damage. This house-to-house educational outreach not only provides health information but also serves as a crucial method for directly delivering knowledge and educational messages to residents, especially those in communities requiring attention and humanitarian support. Through regular outreach, Cambodian Red Cross volunteers act as a bridge between health education messages and the public, helping people better understand preventive measures rather than waiting to address problems after they occur. Preventing dengue fever and infectious diseases, in particular, requires the participation of each family and the entire community. The Cambodian Red Cross, Banteay Meanchey Provincial Branch, continues to encourage volunteers to increase their regular educational outreach efforts, ensuring that health and safety messages reach a wider population and become practical knowledge for families.
