21 Foreigners Detained in Takeo Province for Suspected Illegal Residence
Authorities in Cambodia's southern Takeo province have apprehended 21 foreign nationals during a raid on a rented accommodation suspected of housing an illegal immigrant cluster. The crackdown aims to intensify efforts against illegal residency and criminal activities.
In Takeo province, southern Cambodia, a rented accommodation suspected of housing an illegal cluster of foreign nationals was raided, leading to the apprehension of 21 individuals. This was announced by the provincial administration, following a search and crackdown operation conducted on July 7. The operation was led by the Takeo Provincial Administrative Command, under the direct command of HE Pen Kosal, Governor and Head of the Provincial Administrative Command, with procedural facilitation from the Deputy Prosecutor of the Provincial Court. A joint force comprising provincial police, the Criminal Police Department, the Provincial Gendarmerie, and local authorities at all levels participated. During the inspection of a one-story rented building with 13 rooms, located in Tropang Phlong village, Tropang Phlong commune, Poipet city, authorities discovered a total of 21 foreign nationals (including 8 women). Some related materials were also confiscated. Currently, the 21 foreigners have been transferred to the Takeo Provincial Police Headquarters for further questioning by the specialized forces. The Takeo Provincial Administrative Command is continuing its campaign to intensify investigations, inspections, and searches for other suspicious locations across all seven districts within the province where illegal activities or unlawful concentrations of foreign nationals are suspected.
