Cambodia Holds Public-Private Dialogue on EV Sector Development, Aiming for 2030 Goals

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia hosted a public-private dialogue on July 22, 2026, focusing on strategies to promote the development of the electric vehicle (EV) sector. The meeting was led by Minister Peng Ponea and attended by senior officials from relevant ministries, prominent businessmen, representatives from transport associations, EV suppliers, operators, and distinguished speakers. The objective of this forum was to strengthen the connection between the government and the private sector, fostering an exchange of views to understand the contributions of relevant ministries and institutions, the practical needs, challenges, and requests of the private sector. This aims to further accelerate the growth of the EV sector in Cambodia. In line with the National Policy on Electric Vehicle Development for 2024-2030, the trend of EV adoption in Cambodia is showing remarkable growth. As of June 2026, a total of 20,600 EVs have been registered nationwide, comprising 15,239 cars, 862 three-wheeled vehicles, and 4,499 motorcycles. In the first six months of 2026 alone, 7,632 vehicles were registered, marking a growth rate of approximately 136% compared to the same period in 2025.
