Australian National Arrested in Bacolod for Deportation
The Bureau of Immigration has arrested an Australian national in Bacolod City, who is subject to a deportation order due to alleged harassment and psychological abuse. The individual is currently in custody in Manila.
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has apprehended an Australian national in Bacolod City who is subject to an existing deportation order, the agency announced on Monday. Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony M. Viado stated that the 57-year-old foreign national was arrested in Barangay Sum-ag by operatives from the bureau’s Regional Intelligence Operations Unit-Region VI. The operation was conducted with the assistance of the Philippine National Police, Naval Forces Central, and the Philippine Air Force. The BI indicated that the deportation order stemmed from complaints alleging harassment and psychological abuse. Immigration operatives tracked the foreign national through intelligence monitoring before confirming his identity and proceeding with the arrest. He was subsequently flown to Manila and placed under the custody of the BI Warden Facility in Muntinlupa City, where he will remain pending the completion of deportation proceedings.
