Vietnam Honors 'Mothers of Vietnam Heroes' During War Invalids and Martyrs Day

In Vietnam, a series of activities are being held across the country to commemorate War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27 and to express gratitude to those who sacrificed for the nation. On July 25, Colonel Võ Thị Hoài Ngọc, Deputy Director of the Dong Thap Provincial Police, along with leaders from the provincial police's professional departments, visited and presented gifts from the Ministry of Public Security to Mẹ Việt Nam Anh hùng (Mother of Vietnamese Heroes) Huỳnh Thị Trinh, residing in Mỹ Ngãi ward, Đồng Tháp province. This visit was part of a series of activities to mark War Invalids and Martyrs Day. Under Vietnam's one-party system, expressing respect for individuals and organizations who have contributed or sacrificed for the nation is positioned as a crucial element in fostering national unity and patriotism. In recent years, Vietnam's economy has achieved remarkable growth, underpinned by the numerous sacrifices made during its long wars of independence and socialist construction. These commemorative activities not only honor past achievements but also play a role in transmitting the history that formed the foundation of current peace and development to the next generation. Similar activities are unfolding nationwide, including memorial ceremonies for fallen soldiers in Quảng Trị province, appreciation events by businesses in Ho Chi Minh City, and visits by the Đắk Lắk Provincial Border Guard, collectively enhancing the national sentiment of gratitude towards those who made sacrifices.
