The date marks the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam's National Day, as well as the 57th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's passing. President To Lam offered incense at House 67 within the Ho Chi Minh Presidential Palace historical site, where President Ho Chi Minh spent his later years. He was accompanied by Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Head of the Central Organization Commission, and Le Hoai Trung, Minister of Foreign Affairs, along with leaders from the Party Central Committee Office, the General Secretary's Office, and the Presidential Office. The commemoration is part of events celebrating the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945), National Day (September 2), and the 57th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's death. Thousands of citizens also gathered early at Ba Dinh Square on the morning of September 2nd to visit the mausoleum and the Ho Chi Minh Presidential Palace historical site. Earlier, on August 28th, in observance of the 81st National Day, General Secretary and President To Lam, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and Standing Member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu, along with other Party and State leaders, visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and offered incense at the Monument to Fallen Soldiers on Bac Son Street. Eighty-one years ago, on September 2, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh, on behalf of the Provisional Government, read the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, proclaiming the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Fifty-seven years ago, at 9:47 AM on September 2, 1969, President Ho Chi Minh passed away in Hanoi at the age of 79. His funeral was solemnly held on September 9th at Ba Dinh Square amidst profound grief from compatriots nationwide and international friends.
