Vietnam Highlights Crucial Role in Global Cooperation

Vietnam is actively pursuing a multifaceted foreign policy, strengthening international cooperation across various sectors and underscoring its strategic importance on the global stage. In its engagement with South Africa, a business networking forum was held in Johannesburg, attracting over 20 leading South African companies seeking business partnerships. This initiative reflects Vietnam's commitment to enhancing economic ties with the African continent. On the security front, the necessity of closer cooperation among law enforcement agencies is emphasized to combat transnational organized crime, cybercrime, terrorism, and other non-traditional threats. Vietnam is also enhancing its capacity for overseas search and rescue operations through experience sharing with ASEAN member states and partner countries. Furthermore, procuracies from Vietnamese and Chinese border localities convened to exchange practical experiences, contributing to maintaining security and social order along the shared border. Cultural exchanges are also a key component, with Vietnamese culinary traditions being showcased to international guests, fostering mutual understanding through soft power initiatives. Beyond regional engagements, Vietnam continues to deepen its ties with South Korea through cooperation between public administration training institutions, including past coordination with the World Bank on evaluating government effectiveness. The country also highlights its over half-century-long promotion of friendly relations with Malaysia, which has yielded significant results across various fields. Regarding its relationship with the United States, Vietnam places great importance on the stable and long-term development of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, seeking continued support in addressing war consequences and environmental issues. General Secretary and President To Lam met with a US congressional delegation, expressing optimism for further bilateral ties. With Türkiye, Vietnam aims to increase bilateral trade to $4 billion, advocating for the recognition of Vietnam's market economy status and the reduction of trade barriers. Discussions with Canada focus on leveraging science, technology, and innovation to move beyond academic exchanges towards creating tangible economic value and fostering robust business collaborations. Vietnam's foreign policy priorities are guided by national interests and development needs, while also harmonizing with regional and global peace, stability, and development.
