Laoag City Enhances Barangay Emergency Response with Multipurpose Vehicles

SAN ILDEFONSO, Ilocos Sur — The city government of Laoag in Ilocos Norte has started distributing the first batch of multipurpose vehicles to the city’s 80 barangays to strengthen their capacity to respond to emergencies and other community needs. The city government announced this on Monday, Sept. 7, noting that the vehicles were funded by the city government through the initiative of Mayor James Bryan Alcid. Each multipurpose vehicle is equipped with a stretcher, oxygen tank, first-aid kit, blood pressure apparatus, ladder, and chainsaw, among other equipment needed during emergencies. The vehicles are intended to serve various barangay needs, particularly during medical emergencies, disasters and other situations requiring immediate assistance. With the additional vehicles, barangay officials are expected to respond more quickly to emergencies and provide assistance to residents, particularly during calamities and other urgent situations.
