Cambodia: Housing and Aid Provided to Former Soldier - Men Sam An Visits

On the afternoon of September 6, 2026, Senior Advisor to the King, Samdech Kittisangahabundit Men Sam An, presided over a ceremony to meet, inquire about the well-being of, and present a concrete house with a corrugated iron roof to a heroic soldier named Sam Sarong and his family, residing in Svay Tuthom village, Trapeang Stov commune, Romeas Hek district, Svay Rieng province. The house, measuring 8 meters wide and 12 meters long, along with furniture and a sum of money, was a generous gift from Samdech Men Sam An herself. During the occasion, Samdech Kittisangahabundit Men Sam An conveyed greetings and well wishes from Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Supreme Privy Council to the King, President of the Senate, and Samdech Kittipreah Bun Rany Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Red Cross; Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister, and Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony. Their messages expressed deep concern and high regard for the well-being of all soldiers, police officers, and former combatants of Cambodia. Samdech Men Sam An highlighted that the Samdechs (referring to Hun Sen and Bun Rany) have initiated and sponsored the construction of thousands of houses for families of soldiers and former combatants who are living in poverty and lack proper shelter. They have also established free medical examinations and treatments at military hospitals, as well as provided other health care benefits. Concurrently, Samdech Kittisangahabundit advised all levels of authorities to continue to pay attention and provide constant warmth and care to the families of soldiers within their respective jurisdictions. This attention, she noted, serves as a significant encouragement for soldiers serving on the front lines, giving them peace of mind and confidence that their families are well looked after. It should be noted that the donated goods, including food and other supplies, presented to Lieutenant Colonel Sam Sarong consisted of 4 bags of rice, 5 boxes of instant noodles, 5 bottles of soy sauce, 5 bottles of fish sauce, 5 boxes of mineral water, and 1 box of canned fish, along with a sum of money. Lieutenant Colonel Sam Sarong, a brave soldier who defended the territorial integrity at Prasat Ta Mean Thnot, number 237346, of the 42nd Infantry Division, Military Region 4, fell seriously ill after undergoing two surgeries on his hips. Due to the worsening of his condition, medical professionals decided to send him back to his home in his native village of Svay Tuthom, Trapeang Stov commune, Romeas Hek district, Svay Rieng province. Observing the difficulties faced by the heroic soldier Sam Sarong and his family, the authorities, provincial leaders, and with the high consideration of Samdech Men Sam An, head of the working group of the Cambodian People's Party for Svay Rieng province, a house was built to facilitate their living conditions.
