Former Deputy Minister 'Gortor' and others to face verdict in councillor murder case

The Criminal Court on Ratchadaphisek Road is scheduled to deliver its verdict today (24th) in the murder case of Councillor Chaiyames Sittisanitphong, also known as 'Saj. Toeng Prachinburi'. The defendants include Mr. Sunthorn Wilawan, former Deputy Minister of Public Health and former President of the Prachinburi Provincial Administrative Organization, commonly known as 'Gortor', and seven others. The case number is A 629/2568. Prosecutors allege that on the night of December 11, 2024, Mr. Sunthorn ordered the other defendants to shoot Mr. Chaiyames 22 times, resulting in his death inside Mr. Sunthorn's residence at 21/1 Wat Romanutit Road, Na Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Prachinburi Province. The defendants are charged with joint murder and violations of the firearm law. Today, the court ordered the defendants to be brought from prison to hear the verdict. According to the victim's lawyer, nearly 200 witnesses were examined by both the prosecution and defense during the trial. Mr. Chaiyames's body is currently being kept at Wat Makok Simaram in Na Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Prachinburi Province. The family plans to hold the cremation ceremony immediately after the Criminal Court delivers its verdict on September 24th.
