Cambodia Destroys 800 Tons of Counterfeit Cigarettes

In Takeo province, southern Cambodia, approximately 800 tons of counterfeit branded cigarettes were destroyed through incineration. On the 17th, provincial officials, including the Chairman of the Provincial Council and the Governor, attended the ceremony for the destruction of counterfeit cigarettes and related materials seized by specialized authorities. The event took place in Trapeang Choei village, Trapeang Thum South Commune, Tram Kak District, Takeo Province, under the high presidency of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, His Excellency, Dr. Sar Sokha. The counterfeit cigarettes involved comprised 311 types, seized from a cigarette factory in Don Keo City earlier this year. This marks the second major incineration of counterfeit cigarettes in Takeo Province, following the destruction of over 400 tons in Tbong Khmum Province. This operation and the destruction of counterfeit products serve as clear evidence of the active and highly responsible efforts by the specialized authorities and the provincial administration of Takeo to prevent and eliminate counterfeit offenses, thereby protecting the well-being of citizens and the legal rights and interests of businesses operating in Cambodia.
