Calapan City to Operate Mimaropa's First 911 Emergency Hotline
Calapan City in the Mimaropa region of the Philippines will launch its first 911 Emergency Hotline, aiming for faster and more coordinated responses to all types of emergencies.
CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — Calapan City is set to operate the first 911 Emergency Hotline in the Mimaropa region, a move aimed at bringing faster and more coordinated responses to all types of emergencies across the city. The city government announced that the new emergency number, officially launching on Friday, Sept. 11, will serve as a unified, rapid-response channel for residents, guided by the principle that every second counts in times of crisis. "Because every second counts, this is our swift response to any emergency situation throughout the city, in cooperation with various agencies," Mayor Paulino Salvador Leachon said in a statement. Leachon added that the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Public Safety Department will take the lead as the response group. The initiative marks a significant upgrade in public safety and disaster response capabilities for Oriental Mindoro’s capital city. MIMAROPA is composed of the provinces of Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan.
