Calapan City Secures P113M for School Building Projects, Accelerating Infrastructure Development

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro — The Department of Education (DepEd) has released P113 million, representing half of the P226-million allocation for the construction of school buildings in 14 public schools in this city, Calapan City Mayor Doy Leachon said Tuesday. Leachon said the initial funding would allow the city to begin implementing the national school building program. The funds are earmarked for the renovation of dilapidated school facilities and the construction of new classrooms to accommodate the growing student population. In the Philippines, school infrastructure development is a pressing issue due to rapid population growth and increasing demand for education. Ensuring equitable access to quality education, especially in provincial cities, remains a priority. With this additional funding, Calapan City aims to accelerate its infrastructure development, providing a safer and more conducive learning environment for its students.
