Vietnam's Top Leader Meets Cambodian National Assembly Chairwoman, Reaffirms Strong Ties

On July 28, at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam received Cambodian National Assembly Chairwoman Khuon Sudary during her official visit to Vietnam. During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the continuous development of the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Cambodia. General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that Cambodia is an important neighbor to Vietnam, and the friendship is a valuable asset for both peoples. He also pointed out the importance of both countries maintaining close cooperation based on the principles of non-interference in each other's internal affairs, respect for sovereignty, and territorial integrity. In terms of economic cooperation, discussions focused on promoting trade and investment, infrastructure development, and attracting tourists between the two countries. The establishment of cross-border economic cooperation zones and the improvement of logistics networks are particularly expected to contribute to regional economic revitalization. Views were also exchanged on regional and international issues, confirming the cooperation between the two countries to promote peace, stability, and cooperation. Common ground was shown regarding sustainable development in the Mekong region and strengthening ASEAN's central role. Chairwoman Khuon Sudary expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome from the Vietnamese leadership and stated her expectation that cooperation between the National Assemblies of Cambodia and Vietnam will contribute to further deepening bilateral relations. This meeting served as an important step in reaffirming the strong, long-standing relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia and clarifying the future direction of cooperation.
