Massive Fire Engulfs Bien Hoa Market in Dong Nai, No Casualties but Significant Property Loss

A large-scale fire broke out on the evening of August 5th in Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province, southern Vietnam. Hundreds of personnel, including firefighters and military personnel, were mobilized, and the fire was extinguished after more than three hours of firefighting efforts. While no human casualties have been reported, significant damage has occurred, with numerous stalls completely destroyed. According to an official announcement from the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, the fire started around 8:30 PM on August 5th at the Bien Hoa Market in Tran Bien Ward. It initially began in a kiosk and rapidly spread to many surrounding stalls. To control and extinguish the fire, dozens of specialized vehicles and hundreds of personnel from the Dong Nai Provincial Police, the Provincial Military Command, and the 935th Regiment were mobilized. Mr. Nguyen Van Ut, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, along with three Vice Chairmen, rushed to the scene to direct firefighting operations alongside the Firefighting and Rescue Command. After approximately two hours, the fire was largely under control, and by around 11:00 PM, it was completely extinguished. On the night of the fire, the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee issued a directive for the Provincial Police to take the lead, in coordination with the Tran Bien Ward People's Committee and relevant departments, in investigating and handling the incident in accordance with fire safety regulations, and to conduct rescue operations for people and property as stipulated to minimize damage. Simultaneously, the investigation into the cause of the fire, assessment of damages, and resolution of the matter within the committee's jurisdiction were requested. The Tran Bien Ward People's Committee has been tasked with coordinating with relevant units to visit and offer support to families affected by the fire.
