Sarrat Upgrades Health Facility, Boosting Local Access to Services

Residents of Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, and nearby towns can now access laboratory tests, X-rays, and ultrasound services locally following the expansion of the town’s primary care facility. In a statement on Saturday, Sept. 19, the Department of Health (DOH) Ilocos Region said the new Clinical Laboratory, X-Ray and Ultrasound Services have been added to the town’s primary care facility. This upgrade means that residents of Sarrat and surrounding municipalities will no longer have to travel to distant medical centers for these essential diagnostic services, bringing them closer to home. The improvement in access to medical services is a significant advancement, especially for residents in rural areas, as it can alleviate the burden of managing their health. In the Philippines, the development of healthcare infrastructure in rural areas has been a long-standing challenge. The case of Sarrat town is noteworthy as an initiative contributing to the health promotion of local residents.
