Young Cowboy Saves Drowning Man with Lasso Skills

A 14-year-old boy in Vietnam has demonstrated remarkable bravery and skill, using his lassoing abilities, typically associated with cowboys, to rescue a man from a powerful river current. The incident occurred on July 5th. While camping with his family, the boy heard cries for help from the river. He discovered a man struggling against the strong rapids after his small boat capsized. While three others managed to swim ashore, one man was being swept downstream, desperately clinging to a cooler. As his father called emergency services, the boy quickly grabbed a six-meter lasso he carried and ran along the riverbank. Without hesitation, he waded into chest-deep water and approached the victim, about three meters away. With a practiced swing, he threw the lasso. On the first attempt, the loop caught the man's head and arms. The boy secured the other end of the rope to his belt buckle, stepped back, and powerfully pulled the victim to safety on the shore. Emergency responders arrived about 10 minutes later. The rescued man sustained no serious injuries. The local police chief commented, "Without this boy, we might only have found a body." The young hero, still dripping wet, wrapped in a blanket, expressed his relief, "I think I just saved someone." Raised on a farm, the boy had been honing his lassoing skills for a year, practicing with a bull model on his farm. He admitted he never imagined the rope could be used for such a purpose, thinking it was only for farm work. He has since become a local celebrity, receiving a commendation from the county sheriff's office and being honored as "Montana Citizen of the Month" by a state senator. His mother stated she was not surprised by his actions, as he has always been helpful. "Jory always remembers: if you see someone in trouble, help them to the best of your ability," she shared proudly. The young cowboy has returned to his daily routine, preparing to enter the 9th grade and looking forward to the upcoming school basketball season.
