Vietnam and Russia Deepen Strategic Science and Technology Cooperation

Vietnam and the Russian Federation have emphasized the importance of science, technology, and education and training in their bilateral relations during the "Vietnam-Russia Science and Technology Forum" held in Moscow. Vietnamese Minister of Science and Technology, Vu Hai Quan, stated that science, technology, and education continue to be crucial pillars of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia. The forum highlighted the need for new thinking and approaches in scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries. Particular focus was placed on how both nations can strengthen their collaboration in the context of modern technological competition, especially with the rapid advancements in AI technology. Vietnam has indicated its commitment to enhancing cooperation in the science and technology sector to address the global race in AI development. Under Vietnam's one-party system, the promotion of science and technology as a national strategy is positioned as a driving force for economic growth. International technology transfer and joint research and development are considered indispensable for enhancing national competitiveness. Cooperation with Russia could be a significant option for Vietnam, especially in a scenario where access to technology from Western countries might be restricted. Additionally, the forum touched upon surprise inspections of IUU (Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated) fishing and aquaculture in Dong Thap province conducted by Vietnam's Ministry of Science and Technology.
