Kandal Province Holds Training to Enhance Women's Leadership Skills

Kandal Province, Cambodia – On September 21, 2026, the Kandal Provincial Administration organized a training session focused on enhancing women's leadership in decision-making positions. The initiative aims to strengthen the capabilities, knowledge, confidence, and leadership skills of female officials, enabling them to participate effectively in decision-making and local development. The training was presided over by Her Excellency Sun Sreynang, Deputy Governor of Kandal Province. Participants included representatives from the National School of Local Administration, the Ministry of Interior, a team of expert trainers, as well as female deputy governors of cities and districts, female directors and deputy directors of city/district administrations, and female directors and deputy directors of departments and units under the provincial administration. During the event, Her Excellency Sun Sreynang expressed gratitude to the National School of Local Administration and the trainers for sharing their knowledge and experience with the participants. She also commended all the trainees for dedicating their time to study and enhance their capabilities. The Deputy Governor further emphasized that strengthening women's leadership is not solely about increasing the number of women in positions, but rather about building their capacity, confidence, autonomy, and sense of responsibility. This focus will empower women to contribute effectively to decision-making processes and societal development. The training is designed to equip participants with essential skills in problem analysis, crisis resolution, communication, teamwork, and effective decision-making. She encouraged trainees to be open-minded, engage in discussions, and share experiences to apply the acquired knowledge in their practical work. Furthermore, she urged female officials to bolster their self-confidence, dare to express their opinions, and participate in decision-making based on knowledge and data. She also advised them to continue learning and strengthening their digital technology skills to keep pace with the evolving modern society. Women in leadership roles are encouraged to build supportive networks, share knowledge and experiences, and provide training and opportunities for the next generation of women to develop their capabilities and prepare for future leadership roles. Specifically, those in leadership positions are linked to the duty of serving the public. They must utilize their skills and roles to improve public service delivery, resolve local issues, and contribute to enhancing the livelihoods and quality of life for all citizens, including women, children, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable groups, in an inclusive and non-discriminatory manner. Her Excellency the Deputy Governor expressed her hope that this training program will serve as a crucial foundation for participants to apply their knowledge and experience in their work, thereby strengthening institutional effectiveness and contributing to more efficient service delivery to the local population.
